New Me (2018)

After comparing both MBTI tests that I have taken, it is shown that I have not changed much from 2017 (when I first joined NP) to 2018 (in semester 2.2). However, I have noticed that there are some changes in the values of each individual trait. After comparing these two results, I can point out the reasons for these changes.
Firstly, I am less introverted now than last time. This is because when I first joined NP, I was still shy and was not as open (since I was quite introverted back in secondary school). However, after interacting with many different people, I have learnt to be more open and not be as shy as I used to be. Having said that, I still treasure some of my personal space and will rather spend some quiet time by myself than go to camps/public events alone.
Secondly, I have become less 'turbulent'. A person who has a 'turbulent' trait is self-conscious and sensitive to stress. During the time I have currently spent as an NP student, I have learnt to better cope with stress when compared to how I used to be (i.e. I was not very good in managing and coping with stress). This is due to the many assignments that I have completed in school, which trained me to find ways to cope with stress.

FAQs
What was my inspiration?
Since I was young, I was always fascinated by how computers and technology work. My family once had an old desktop and was using it as our household computer. When we had to make way for other things in the house, my father dismantled the desktop to throw it away. While observing the dismantling of the desktop, I was intrigued by the many components of the desktop. That was when I started becoming interested in computers and anything related to IT.
Why did I choose to be part of the IT industry?
There are several reasons to this:
- I have an interest in IT. Since a young age, I was fascinated by how technology around me works, and I was curious to find out how all these technologies work.
- I am a practical person. I am not the type of person who can sit still for many hours straight while listening attentively. I am the type of person who learns better while doing the activity myself. This is why I like Mathematics. Since I know that IT involves a lot of Mathematics and programming, I aim to be part of the IT industry when I join the workforce in the future.
- I want to make a positive impact on people around me. I have always been a helpful person, and I like to help others to the best of my ability. When I was still unsure of what area of IT I should specialise in, due to my strong interest in IT, some of my preferred jobs were Solutions Architect or Cloud Developer. However, after finding game development fun, I have decided to focus on refining my skills as a game designer/developer. That way, I can still achieve my original goal of helping others by making fun or educational games that can help others.
How did I become interested in the video game industry?
Initially, I aspired to be a Solutions Architect or Cloud Developer since I still did not know which area of IT I was interested in. However, after being given many opportunities to design and develop games, an interest in the video game industry sparked within me. This was when I found the passion and drive to design good games.
What are my goals in life?
- University (Local/Overseas) : Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Game Design/Development
- Dream Job and Realistic Job: Working at an IT company as a Solutions Architect or Game Developer
What did I do to help improve my skills?
- During the long break after my O' Level Examinations, I knew that I wanted to take up an IT-related course in Polytechnic. So, to pass time at home, I searched for programming courses online. I used websites like www.codecademy.com/ where I learnt how to program using languages like Python, or how to make websites using HTML5.
- During my free time, I would occasionally visit the nearby library to borrow books related to IT, like books on Android Application Development and programming using C#.
- I pay attention during lectures.
